If you are enrolled at K-1 all terms or K-2 all 25 day terms and 13 day terms 1,3, and 5 you may wish to consider learning how to scuba dive.. These classes offer kampers the opportunity to learn a lifetime pastime while at Kanakuk Kamps. Scuba is offered by Aquasports Scuba Center from Springfield, Missouri. Don Peterson, owner and president of Aquasports, started teaching Scuba at Kanakuk in 1967 and is still active on a daily basis with Kamp classes. We offer several levels of training and all classes are taught at Kamp pools and in clear Table Rock Lake.

Aquasports instructors have taught more than 5,200 kampers to dive over the past 33 years. Kampers can choose from a variety of classes including the Scuba Diver course taught at K-1, and the Open Water Certification course and Advanced Open Water specialty classes which are taught at K-2. All instructors are certified thru Scuba Schools International. Kampers are directly supervised by these experienced and highly trained instructors at all times. Diving safety is our number one priority.

Scuba is a lifetime sport which can be enjoyed by any healthy individual who enjoys the water and is comfortable in water activities. You don’t have to be a great swimmer to dive. Basic swimming skills are sufficient. Diving is a great family sport that kids from 10 to 80 can enjoy. Our classes build confidence by developing skills, knowledge and a buddy system designed to encourage divers to work together as a team for better safety and enjoyment.
In our classes students learn the rules of Safe Scuba practices. They learn to respect these rules to insure that they Dive Safe! We teach skills that are essential to the safety and enjoyment of diving. Learning these skills byrepetition in the pool and open water increase the students ability and safety underwater. The greatest benefit to Scuba is FUN! Learning to dive is an awesome experience! Diving in the open water with beautiful fish, unusual animals, and being in a clear weightless environment is an exhilarating experience.
